CONSULATE GENERAL KICKS OFF 2024 OUTREACH ACTIVITIES IN PARMA, OHIO

CHICAGO 18 March 2024 – The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago conducted its first consular mission for the year and a field Overseas Voting (OV) Registration on 16 March 2024 at the Philippine-American Cultural and Civic Center, 1975 W Ridgewood Dr, Parma, Ohio 44134 (some 343 miles away from the Consulate General).

The Consulate General’s team, headed by Consul General J. Susana V. Paez, provided a total of 210 passport, dual-citizenship and other services to consular clients residing in Ohio and other nearby states during the one-day event. In addition, the team also processed 121 OV Registration applications.

The event was conducted in partnership with the office of Dr. Susan Gumabao-Flores, Consul, ad honorem, of the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Cleveland, which assisted the outreach team by providing promotional and logistical support. Applicants who availed of the consular and OV services during the event expressed their appreciation to the team, since this meant that they no longer have to drive for six (06) hours to the Consulate General in Chicago.

Mayor Ron Falconi of Brunswick, Ohio called on the Consul General to discuss areas of mutual concern and possible future collaborative efforts. Mayor Falconi is of pure Filipino descent and is married to a Filipina. He expressed his desire to see more politicians of Filipino ethnicity believing that the burgeoning FilCom population in the State should be appropriately represented.

At least four (04) outreach missions are lined up for the year after the event in Parma, Ohio. Consular missions are regularly held to bring the Consulate General’s services closer to the Filipino and Filipino-American communities in US Midwestern states under the Consulate’s jurisdiction, outside of Illinois.
