PHILIPPINE CONSULATE GENERAL JOINS DFA’S FIESTA FILIPINAS: KADAYAWAN FESTIVAL

Chicago, 30 September 2022 – The Consulate General in Chicago, represented by Consular Officer Fritz John De Jesus, joined the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Fiesta Filipinas via Zoom on 24 September 2022, which featured the bountiful Kadayawan Festival of Davao City.

The Fiesta Filipinas, now on its second season, is a virtual event organized by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).The event was held showcasing Philippine culture and celebrations in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). Aside from an online tour of Davao City, the Kadayawan episode treated its bisitas with a cooking segment featuring Puto Maya and Tsokolate de Davao.

Kadayawan kits, containing ingredients for Puto Maya and Tsokolate de Davao, were distributed in advance to the Consulate General’s bisitas, mostly spouses of Filipinos. The bisitas followed the instructions from the cooking segment and enjoyed Davao City’s delicacies after the virtual experience. The Kadayawan episode was livestreamed through the DFA’s official Facebook page and YouTube Channel. END
