14 August 2025, Omaha, Nebraska - Consul General Atty. Melanie Rita B. Diano congratulated Omaha Mayor John Ewing Jr. on his election during a meeting at the Omaha City Hall on 14 August 2025.

She informed the Mayor of the conduct of the consular outreach mission in Omaha on 15 August, whereby the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago will provide consular services to Filipinos from Nebraska and neighboring states, such as passport and notarial services, as well as dual citizenship. She also informed the Mayor that the Philippines and the United States will celebrate 80 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2026, and expressed interest in undertaking activities, such as raising the Philippine flag in the city centre and the presentation of cultural dances. The Consul General also expressed interest in exploring a sister-city agreement between Omaha and an appropriate city in the Philippines.

Joining the Consul General were Consul Ma. Theresa M. Alders and Mr. Richard Osea. The meeting was arranged by Mr. Francisco Quevedo, a Filcom leader in Omaha, Nebraska [END].
