CONSULATE GENERAL RETURNS TO MICHIGAN FOR OUTREACH AFTER THREE YEARS

CHICAGO 23 June 2025- With the last outreach mission in Michigan in June 2022, the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago returned to said state after three (03) years for a consular outreach on 21 June 2025. The event, its fourth for the year, was held in the Philippine American Community Center of Michigan’s (PACCM) temporary office at 21725 Melrose Ave, Southfield, Michigan 48075 (some 274 miles away from the Consulate).
Led by Consul General Melanie Rita Diano, the Consulate General’s team rendered a total of 125 services, mainly for passport and dual citizenship, to consular clients residing in Michigan and other nearby states during the one-day event. Applicants who availed of the consular services expressed their appreciation to the team, since this meant that they no longer have to drive for more than five (05) hours to the Consulate General in Chicago.
The event was conducted in partnership with the PACCM headed by its president Ms. Rebecca Tungol, which assisted the outreach team through promotional and logistical support. The Consulate’s team also took the opportunity to encourage dual citizenship applicants to check out business opportunities in the Philippines.

Consular missions are regularly held to bring the Consulate General’s services closer to the Filipino and Filipino-American communities in US Midwest states under the Consulate’s jurisdiction, outside of Illinois.
