Chicago, 22 September 2025: The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago joined the diplomatic corps, the Chicago City Government, schools and the Peace School for the 47th Anniversary of Peace Day Chicago. Consul Ma. Theresa Alders and Mr. Richard Osea represented the Philippine Consulate at the event.
On 7 September 1978, Chicago officially created Peace Day, three years before the United Nations established the International Day of Peace through a resolution in November 1981. Since the first U.N. observance of Peace Day Chicago on 21 September 1982, it has been held in cooperation with the U.N. International Day of Peace. In 2008, the Peace School established the Chicago Build the Peace Committee to cooperate with other organizations and individuals who work in peacebuilding, thereby becoming the committee’s Honorary Co-Chairs [END].
