On 18 May 2025, the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago, represented by Consul Melvin Almonguera and Assistance-to-Nationals Officer Atty. Mark Arinquin, attended Sinag's group exhibition, its first art show for 2025, at the Evanston Public Library in Evanston, Illinois. With the title “Sining sa Silangan,” the event featured over 40 artworks on display, including paintings, photography and paper carvings, among others.
The event also featured a dialogue with the artists where they shared their inspirations and discussed how their Filipino-American heritage has influenced their perspectives. The audience, composed of supporters and avid followers, was also treated to a demonstration on the artists’ respective creative processes.
Sinag is a group of Filipino-American painters, sculptors, photographers, writers, and poets based in Chicago and its neighboring suburbs. The exhibition on the 3 rd floor of the Evanston Public Library will run until 31 May 2025.END
