7 May 2026, Chicago - Chicago PCG, represented by Consul Ma. Theresa M. Alders, participated in the launch of the 2025 Chicago Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month held yesterday, 6 May 2025, at the Chicago Cultural Center.

The AAPI Heritage Month is celebrated annually in May to recognize and honor the contributions, achievements, and cultures of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders. There are almost a million AAPI residents in Illinois, over 23,000 AAPI-owned businesses, and more than 87,000 AAPI solo entrepreneurs in the state.

On 29 April 2025, Governor JB Pritzker has officially proclaimed May as Illinois Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Mayor Johnson proclaimed May 2025 as AAPI Month in Chicago on 1 May 2025.

Per the 2025 Chicago Asian Pacific American Heritage Month calendar, “Flavors of the Philippines” will be held on 18 May at 12:00PM-5:00 PM at the Ignite Gaming Lounge in Skokie IL.END
