CHICAGO COMMUNITY ADVOCATE CALLS ON PHL CONSUL GENERAL

Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano met with Mr. Joe Holberg, a Chicago-based civic leader and community advocate, during a courtesy call at the Consulate General on 28 January 2026.

During the meeting, Mr. Holberg and Consul General Diano exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, including strengthening economic ties between the PHL and Chicago, as well as fostering cultural collaboration. Mr. Holberg also shared his interest in public service and his intention to remain actively involved in the city’s future development. The contributions of the Filipino-American community to the Chicago’s social, cultural, and economic life were likewise acknowledged.

The courtesy call forms part of the Consulate General’s ongoing engagement with community leaders to strengthen ties between the PHL and the US Midwest, in line with the celebration of the 80th anniversary of PHL-US diplomatic relations. END
