Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano paid a courtesy call on Secretary of State Denny Hoskins on 22 April 2026 at the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City, Missouri.
During the call, Consul General Diano informed Secretary Hoskins that approximately 25,000 Filipino and Filipino Americans reside in Missouri, highlighting the growing Filipino community within the state.
The Consul General also highlighted the "Very Important Pinoy" (VIP) tour, which aims to promote tourism and boost economic growth. The Consulate is set to host the VIP Tour again in February 2027, which is expected to attract even more participants due to the high demand, especially during the winter season in Chicago.
Additionally, the Consul General Diano discussed the upcoming Philippine Business Mission, seeking the Secretary’s assistance in inviting Missouri’s business sector to participate and explore potential economic opportunities with the Philippines.
Lastly, the two officials highlighted the importance of the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the United States, celebrating decades of friendship and cooperation. Secretary Hoskins noted that 2026 also marks the 250th anniversary of the United States.
The meeting concluded with a shared exchange of insights on the electoral processes of both countries, reflecting on best practices that underpin their respective governance systems. END
