11 March 2026 (Wednesday), Chicago - The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago kicked off #PurpleWednesdays to boost online awareness and conversations on Women’s Month, in support of a whole-of-government approach and all-of–society engagement in advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment (GEWE).
The 2026 National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) continues its 2023-2028 campaign banner, “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society.” This year’s sub-theme is “Lead like the Babaylans, Filipinas!” which reaffirms women’s leadership as a fundamental part of Filipino identity. According to the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), the lead agency for the National Women’s Month Celebration, the 2026 NWMC hopes to amplify women’s leadership as central to transformative change in families, communities, Philippine society, and the ASEAN region.
