The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago, represented by Consul Melvin Almonguera, attended the celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the Santo Niño de Agosto on 22 August 2026 at St. John Brebeuf Church in Niles, Illinois. He was joined by Finance Officer Jekelyn Esguerra and Consular Assistant Dennis Marnilego.
The annual celebration brought together members of the Filipino community in Chicago and surrounding suburbs for a Eucharistic Mass and devotional activities in honor of the Santo Niño de Agosto. The occasion also marked three decades of the community’s devotion to the Santo Niño and its tradition of faith and fellowship.
Delivering the Consul General’s message, Consul Almonguera recognized the contributions of the Filipino community organizations that have helped sustain the tradition in Chicagoland over the past 30 years. He underscored that the devotion to the Santo Niño remains a living expression of Filipino faith in the U.S. Midwest. END
