CONSULATE GENERAL JOINS CELEBRATION OF OUR LADY OF PIAT FEAST

The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago, represented by Consul Melvin Almonguera and Atty. Mark Arinquin, attended the celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Piat last 11 July at St. Padre Pio Church in Chicago.

The annual celebration brought together members of the Filipino community coming from all over Chicago and its surrounding suburbs, particularly those with roots in the Cagayan Valley, for a Eucharistic Mass in honor of said Marian devotion. The Holy Mass was led by Most Rev. Ricardo L. Baccay, Archbishop of Tuguegarao, as main celebrant.

Our Lady of Piat, whose image was brought to the PHL by Dominican missionaries in the early 17th century, is widely venerated as the Patroness of Cagayan Valley. A replica of the image was brought to Chicago in 1986. END
