7 July 2026, Chicago - The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago, represented by a contingent of personnel led by Consul Ma. Theresa Alders, participated in the opening night of the 2026 Argyle Night Market season on 2 July.

Consul Alders gave brief remarks, expressing the hope that the event will not be the last to showcase Philippine food and culture in Illinois. Alderwoman Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth, the first to be elected as a Filipino-American alderwoman in Chicago, invited the public to continue supporting small and local businesses.
Ms. Lou Ella Rose Cabalona, the founder and managing director of SAAYSAAY, a Chicago-based cultural production company, and the SamaSama Project, produced the Filipino Night, the first ever such initiative in the Argyle night market scene. SamaSama Project later entertained the crowd with their music. The 2026 Argyle Night Market is open every Thursday in July and August from 2 July until 27 August. [END]
