Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano received Ms. Joanne Rivera, GCash's Head of Business Development for North America, at the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago on 06 July 2026. The Consul General was accompanied by Consul Melvin Almonguera.

During the courtesy call, Ms. Rivera shared updates on the company's efforts to expand and enhance its digital financial services for Filipinos in North America. She highlighted GCash's initiatives to make digital payments, remittances, and other financial transactions more accessible and secure for Overseas Filipinos, including recent efforts to broaden its U.S. user base and partnerships that support Filipinos traveling to and from the PHL.

Consul General Diano welcomed GCash's continued efforts to support the financial transaction needs of the Filipino community in the U.S. Midwest and underscored the role of convenient and secure digital financial services in helping Overseas Filipinos stay connected and support their families in the PHL. She also expressed the Consulate General's openness to exploring collaboration in community events and initiatives, including the 2027 Very Important Pinoy (VIP) Tour to the PHL, which the Consulate is set to spearhead in February 2027.
