Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano graced the ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening of Filipino-owned storefront bakery, Panaderia, on 28 June 2026 in Glenview, Illinois. The event marked a milestone in promoting Filipino flavors within the US Midwest. Owner Clarinda Mikhail was joined and attended by her family, Filipino entrepreneurs and local supporters.
“Panaderia also reflects the important contribution of Filipino entrepreneurs to the economic and cultural life of the Midwest. By investing in this community and bringing a distinct Filipino identity to the local marketplace, it helps create opportunities while fostering greater appreciation and understanding of our culture and heritage” remarks of Consul General Diano.
