Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano attended the annual picnic and Nurses Month celebration of the Philippine Nurses Association of Illinois (PNAI) on 31 May 2026 at Spring Creek Reservoir in Bloomingdale, Illinois. The gathering brought together Filipino nurses, their families, friends, and members of the community in a festive celebration of fellowship, camaraderie, and service.

In her remarks, the Consul General conveyed her appreciation to PNAI for its steadfast commitment to advancing the welfare, professional development, and empowerment of Filipino nurses throughout the Midwest. She also recognized the invaluable contributions of Filipino nurses to the healthcare sector and underscored their important role in promoting the positive image of the Philippines and strengthening ties between the homeland and the Filipino diaspora.

The event provided participants with an opportunity to celebrate Nurses Month, reconnect with colleagues and loved ones, and enjoy a day of outdoor activities in a welcoming community atmosphere.

Consul General Diano was accompanied by Cultural Officer Mary Joy Duran-Mortel and Protocol Officer Martyn Asker B. Orcine.
