BALANGAY BOAT REPLICA TURNED OVER TO THE FIELD MUSEUM’S PHILIPPINE COLLECTION

17 June 2022, Chicago – Mr. Lemzar Manginsay, a member of the Filipino community in Chicago, turned over a balangay boat replica to the Field Museum represented by Mr. Jamie Kelly and Ms. Emma Trujillo. It will form part of the museum’s Philippine collection. The balangay is the first wooden boat excavated in Southeast Asia which highlights our ancestors’ boat-building genius and expertise during the pre-colonial times. END.
